New Internet Intervention for Pediatric Obesity

Studies on the determinants of obesity in children have shown that there is a relationship between child and parent obesity which can be explained by genetic, environmental, and behavioral factors. Specific behavioral factors related to obesity include consumption of high-fat diets and physical inactivity. In addition, research has demonstrated the efficacy of family-based behavioral interventions for pediatric weight control. However, one of the major difficulties with treatment of pediatric obesity is access to effective treatment programs.
