Barriers in the ‘Golden Age’ of Cancer Research

This is the “Golden Age of cancer research,” claimed Dr. Dan Theodorescu of the University of Colorado Cancer Center. He was speaking to about 100 people at a breakfast meeting held recently by the Cancer Action Network (CAN), a branch of the American Cancer Society. Present at the breakfast were researchers, pharmaceutical companies, health care leaders and others involved in cancer research and awareness, including Klein Buendel, Inc., a silver sponsor. Despite a shrinking NIH budget, a brief government shutdown, and the first significant snowfall of the year, the mood was optimistic.
