Temperature, Clouds and Sun Protection on Vacation

Vacationing at sunny, warm weather resorts can increase a person’s risk for excessive ultraviolet radiation (UV) exposure from the sun. Dr. David Buller and Dr. Barbara Walkosz from Klein Buendel (KB), along with their colleagues and co-authors from San Diego State University and Mikonics, Inc., recently published a paper examining key environmental variables, temperature, cloud cover, and latitude, related to sun protection behavior by people vacationing at sunny, warm weather resorts in the U.S. and Canada.

Dr. Robert Dellavalle holds a clinical appointment as Chief of Dermatology Service at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Denver, CO and an academic appointment as an Associate Professor of Dermatology at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. His clinical and academic research interests include dermatoepidemiology, skin cancer treatment and prevention, public health, and evidence-based medicine.
