An institutional review board (IRB), also known as an independent ethics committee or ethical review board, is a committee that has been formally designated to approve, monitor, and review biomedical and behavioral research involving humans.  An IRB’s main responsibility is to protect the rights and welfare of human subjects recruited to participate in research. In this post, we offer some helpful tips to keep in mind when seeking IRB approval.

Institutional FCOI Responsibilities and PHS-funded Research (Part 2)

Institutions participating in research funded by an agency of the Public Health Service (PHS) must require that all investigators complete Financial Conflict of Interest (FCOI) training. A tutorial is available. The tutorial is designed to augment, not replace, institutional training programs. These training requirements are described in Title 42, Code of Federal Regulations, Part 50, Subpart F.
