Alcohol Server Training Program Hits Milestone

This is the story of how a collaboration among three research institutions is helping the State of New Mexico reduce the number of drunk driving incidents. Eight years ago, state officials asked Professor Gill Woodall, Ph.D. from the University of New Mexico (UMN) to develop a training curriculum for bartenders, waiters, waitresses, liquor store clerks and others who serve alcohol to the public. The training would help alcohol servers identify minors who cannot legally buy alcohol and know when to refuse service to someone likely to be intoxicated.
